MTO Cafe - Downtown Summerlin

Having been to the original location Downtown I was relatively confident that I would enjoy this location as well. We case here for breakfast today, my mom ordered the Kentucky fried chicken and eggs and I ordered the tri tip and eggs with toasted brioche.

The food took longer than expected to come out and it was with disappointment that I note how little I enjoyed just about everything I tried. The brioche was barely toasted and somewhat cold, the eggs were a soggy mess as were the hash browns and the tri tip was absolutely flavorless. I was forced to douse my entire plate with salt, pepper and chili sauce to give it any sort of flavor whatsoever. My mom's chicken was just as disappointing. The only thing about our meal that I enjoyed was the iced tea which was brewed well and strong.

I have no interest in returning to this location again.

Rise and Shine: A Steak & Egg Place

After a rather lackluster first visit to the other Rise & Shine location n Flamingo, it's with disappointment that I note that the original location also failed to rise to the occasion of a great breakfast.

All puns aside, I do really want to like this place. Service is spot on and incredibly friendly, but the food leave much to be desired for me I'm afraid. I found the fried chicken flavorless and dry, the waffle was a soggy mess and the chilaquiles were as well. The only thing from my meal that I halfway enjoyed were the red velvet chocolate chip pancakes. They were good when paired with the flavorless and over-battered chicken to help make it more palatable.

Aside from the pancakes, the service was the only other saving grace about this place. I don't see myself making any extra effort to come back when there are much breakfast spots near me that have cheaper prices and better food.

Japaneiro - Las Vegas

Despite all the rave reviews I read on Japaneiro, I was still in no rush to visit. The location didn't seem very appealing.

On an early Saturday evening we arrived and were seated quickly. The restaurant was pretty empty and the music was blaring. The menus didn't consist of many options, a majority of their specials are vaguely listed on a chalkboard near the entrance. Make sure you snap a picture so you don't end up standing up blocking the aisle while you decide what to eat.

Service was friendly and attentive but nothing from the specials or the menu had me too excited. We decided on a good assortment of items and waited for the onslaught of food.

The first round consisted of the rock shrimp that were a table favorite. I think I was the only person that didn't enjoy this dish. The flavors were a little sweet for my taste and I've had better versions with more spice and flavor elsewhere.

Of the dishes we tried the standouts for me were the bone marrow filet, prawns and the octopus. The rest of the items were good but forgettable.

We closed out our meal with several dishes from the dessert menu. All were perfunctory but needless to say, I was not wowed by a single one. The addition of red cabbage to the mochi dish still leaves me puzzled.

The pricing was a bit confusing on the chalkboard and most of the menu was a little pricy considering the awkward off strip location and the lack of inventiveness.

I enjoyed many things about the meal, but I don't see myself coming back to Japaneiro.

Pho Annie - Las Vegas

Despite its convenient location this was my first visit to Pho Annie since it changed names and ownership.

I arrived around 6:30 with my friend and her daughter. We both ordered vermicelli bowls and some chicken wings for her daughter.

Food and service were sluggish, but we were engrossed in conversation so we didn't really notice. The meal itself was good, not great. Portions were generous but flavors weren't anything to write home about. We both left full and I'll likely order takeout here from time to time since it's convenient but I won't go out of my way.

No. 1 Boba on Flamingo - Las Vegas

The newest No. 1 Boba location looks to be the best one yet. Best location, best atmosphere and their drinks are just as good as the original.

I ordered my trusty coconut lychee with boba and lychee jelly for comparison and it lived up to all my past experiences. Service was friendly and I look forward to coming back again soon.

Brew Tea Bar - Las Vegas

With all the buzz on Brew Tea in the very short amount of time they have been open I was almost reluctant to try them. After very little convincing on my fella's part when he was craving a boba drink I'm happy to say I have jumped on the bandwagon with both feet.

Excellent customer service, each employee we have encountered has gone out of their way to make sure our orders and experiences have been top notch and the product is excellent as well.

Each drink I have tried has been incredibly well balanced and they accommodate every request to personalize your drink. If you aren't happy with your order they will remake it to your specifications. You can't get better than that. The boba is perfectly prepared as well. Chewy and sweet, just as it should be.

I will be a regular here, that's for sure.
